Dorothy & I celebrated our wedding anniversary visiting South Carolina. We were in a beachfront property in Myrtle Beach. As much as I like to sleep in while on vacation, I had to set an early alarm to photograph a Myrtle Beach sunrise. Since it’s late in the year … that game me a reprieve which allowed me to sleep until 7AM before heading down to the beach.
It was a chilly 44 degrees, and I was without a tripod. What I brought along from home though is something similar to a bean bag with a 1/4 20 threaded bolt. By screwing this into the camera base, I could set it on a fence railing. Then I used my eyeglass case underneath the lens barrel to achieve the proper height to frame the shot.
To make things even easier, I synced my Canon 5D MKIV to my smartphone and controlled the focus, exposure settings, shutter release, and image preview without ever touching the camera.
