The first Oshkosh Striker ARFF unit was displayed several years ago at an international trade show in New Orleans. Due to the size of the vehicle, it travelled on a drop-deck, low-boy trailer. After the show was over, the plan was for this unit to go back to the factory to be dismantled. In the mean time, I was to photograph the unit from all angles and in as many airport settings as possible.
On the way back to Wisconsin, I met the crash truck at O’Hare Airport where we spent the better part of a day driving it on and off-road, posing it with aircraft, and with an overview of the airport from one of the far corners.

Once we were done shooting, the unit went back to the plant and was out of circulation for an unknown period of time. During that time, the images that I created with the help of several others, were all that was available to show the Striker to prospective customers.
