Our last morning in Italy provided us with a beautiful sunrise over Lake Como. The mountains, the water, and the classic village provide great elements for a dramatic image.
When the sun rose above the mountain top, the bright light source was overwhelming. While exposing for the highlights (the bright sun and corresponding reflection), the shadow areas remain dark. This creates a dramatic and striking image with the harsh contrast.
