Rogers Fire Department house burn down

Part of my time spent in Arkansas involved photographing a Rogers Fire Department house burn down at the culmination of company training. Since my focus for the trip involved new apparatus from Rosenbauer, the fire department had one of the new engines and the new quint at the scene. The police department stopped traffic on the wide road as a safety measure, and the instructors initiated a fire to costume the structure.

I had a camera positioned on a tripod and another that I operated handheld allowing me to move freely around the scene.

From the camera positioned on a tripod across the street, I lined up an angle to really showcase the engine. The unpredictability of the free burning fire did’t often create the image that I had envisioned. Larry Shapiro photo
